Caught On Tape: Green Jello - 'The Bear Song'

Green Jello, more commonly known as Green Jelly, was the self-proclaimed "worst band in the world" best known for the 1993 hit single 'Three Little Pigs.' With a Gwar-like stage show full of bizarre, costumed antics, the band's mission was to never let musicianship stand in the way of entertainment.

Green Jello's breakthrough album, Cereal Killer, was initially released as a "video only" compilation. It wasn't until the
MTV success of the claymation 'Three Little Pigs' that the band agreed to do a full album.

The band followed up
Cereal Killer Soundtrack with 1994's 333. Returning with a penchant for nursery-rhyme-inspired ditties, the band released a video for 'The Bear Song.' The lyrics are about a bear who went over a mountain to see what he could see. The punchline here is... the other side of the mountain was all that he could see.

The claymation and puppetry really send the video over the top. I get a real kick out of it, in a sophomoric sort of way.

While the band never lived up to the success of 'Three Little Pigs', the single for 'The Bear Song' was featured (fittingly) on the soundtrack to
Dumb and Dumber.
